SURREALOGRAPHY
Mixed media- source material photography, oil painting, pencil and/or ink drawing. Artwork utilizes digital hand-painting (all manual creation, including brightness, contrast and saturation tools) without use of preset stock effects. Medium of final art piece is print.

I created the term 'Surrealography' after printing my first series of creations in Hollywood. The people at the high-end photo lab had never seen anything like it and craved to know the name of the process that I used. Actually, the technique is very similar to painting with traditional oils. How it essentially differs is in the source of color and the final exhibition format, that being a print. The result is silky smooth and colorfully captivating. Typically, as with this piece, I begin with a hi-res photograph of a flower in a garden or pastoral setting and use the pure photographic pigments to create from. For instance, this 'Wizard' piece actually originates from an image of a flower that I took on a gloriously sunny day, while visiting Claude Monet's garden in Giverny, France. Ultimately, my desire is to instill a sense of magic, joy and the marvel of randomness that for me exists not just in the realm of imagination but also in our daily lives. May vibrant color and child-like fantasy uplift us all as we 'search the sky'. E
